Call of Duty League: Signing Standy Significantly Improved Vegas Legion
On March 24, the Vegas Legion signed Eli "Standy" Bentz after Toronto Ultra decided to release him from the roster. To say the move is off to a hot start is an understatement.
Vegas squared off against the Boston Breach to kick off Major 4 of the Call of Duty League. They began on Fortress Hardpoint, and Vegas got rolling right away. Standy looked like he was moving well, despite not playing the majority of the CDL Major 3. He popped off for a ten streak at one point. Comms were a tad frantic during points of the round, and things started to get out of hand. It ended up coming down to the final second, with Vegas taking the round 250-249.
The question surrounding Standy's game was his ability to do the dirty work. He only had 20 seconds on the hill for the first round. But he did what Vegas was asking him to do. Hold angles and go slay. He ended the round 33k/25d with 13 assists and 24 non-traded kills.
They took the game to Asilo SnD, where Vegas beat Boston 6-4 to go up 2-0 in the series. Standy was popping again. He led the team in most categories, going 9k/5d, 4 first bloods, two plants, and one defuse. He had a nice two-piece in round eight and nearly finished the round with an ace. Standy showed that he could do the dirty work in SnD with his new team as Vegas continues its SnD dominance.
Things got a little rough for Vegas on Expo Control. Obviously, for many teams, there are going to be hiccups on the new map. Standy struggled to get going in the beginning but ended the map with respectable numbers. He went 18k/22d but Vegas dropped the round, giving Boston a chance to come back.
Sitting at 2-1 in Vegas' favor, they took the match to Embassy Hardpoint, where Boston was 5-2 on the season. But that didn't matter. Standy and Vegas took it to them in a big way. He popped off for an 11 streak at one point and ended the round 34k/21d. He got in on a lot of the dirty work, totaling 1:06 on the hill.
It's still early and we are only one match in with Standy squading up with the Legion squad, but things are looking bright for the team that's one spot out of the top eight.
